review and giveaway: zevia soda

Update: The winner of this giveaway is Tess from gotta have fath. She just so happens to be my sister! I promise I didn't rig it. ;-) Thanks to everyone for participating...can't wait to do it again!

I have to be perfectly honest about something before I give you my two cents about Zevia. To me, soda (in any form or variety) is a big-time treat. I fill my body up every day with lots and lots of water, maybe tea.

But when I want to eat vegan pizza while my sister is visiting, or make some festive butterbeer, or bring something fun to a barbecue, Zevia is my soda of choice. It is the only sugarfree, naturally sweetened soda that I know of, and I'm always relieved when I check the ingredients and am not horrified by some chemical names I can't pronounce.

I've tried three flavors: cream soda, ginger root beer, and the traditional cola. And they are all amazing. The weird-ish aftertaste that accompanies stevia is slightly present in Zevia as well. But it is really very subtle. If you can handle the taste of diet soda, you'll be okay. The folks at Zevia recommend that you drink it very cold, and straight from the can for the best taste. (I agree!)

For me, Zevia is a great product as an occasional treat. But I think it's especially promising for people who are trying to ditch a soda habit. Of course it's great to totally break an addiction to anything, but in the mean time, Zevia is a healthier substitute for full-sugar or artificially-sweetened soda.

But...I know these things are scary. It's hard to bring yourself to buy something like Zevia when you're not sure you'll like it. Which is why I am super excited for My Very First Blog Giveaway.

Here's what you could win:

-a 6-pack Zevia sampler (with Mountain Zevia, Black Cherry,
Cream Soda, Grapefruit Citrus, Dr. Zevia, and Grape flavors)
and
-a coupon for a free 6-pack of Zevia

And if you don't win, I recommend you give Zevia a try anyway. You can sometimes find it sold as single cans in healthy restaurants or grocery stores. But the Zevia official website has a store locator to find where you can purchase 6-packs. And online distributors sell Zevia as well.

There are three ways to enter the giveaway. Please leave a comment for each one you do (with a maximum of three comments). Be sure to enter your email, as I'll be notifying the winner that way. I'll also update this page at the end.

Entries will be accepted until this Friday at 6:00 p.m. and a winner will be chosen via a number generated at random.org. Winner must be a resident of the US or Canada (and the coupon is only good for the US).

Here are the three ways to enter:

1. Leave a comment below with the flavor of Zevia you'd most like to try and why.
2. Follow my blog via Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc. If you're already a follower, just comment that you'd like me to give you a second entry, since you're so great. =)

  8. I LOVE Zevia, however, I can't drink it. I found this out the hard way, about 4 months ago. I bought three of them and had one on my day off and was in pain all day long. I looked at the ingredient list and saw erythritol (a "natural" sugar alcohol) and realized that was what was causing me pain! I can't have any sugar alcohols, natural or not. SUCH A BUMMER! I still have the other two in the fridge, trying to convince Nick to try one!
